The honest price ledger
What a one-bedroom actually rents for in three neighborhoods of each city — written from current listings, not from a guidebook written in 2019.
Rates below are compiled from holiday-let listings, the national tourism authority, and the owner on-the-ground notes between Jan and Jul 2026. They read as a 1-bedroom base rate in EUR, per person for meals, and exclude the tourist tax (the INN visitor-rate inventory is published quarterly). The bands below are the lowest-quartile to the median for each tier, not a floor or a roof. If you book outside the band it is usually because the calendar sits in a school holiday, a heat-wave weekend, or a citywide event — Lisbon World Youth Day 2026 (last week of July) lifted nightly rates 25 to 40 percent across central parishes.
